Obesity isn't a disease. Diseases can stem from being overweight - that I can fully agree with. There are many reasons people become overweight. For those that are, those reasons need to be uncovered and hopefully resolved. So many people want a quick fix to their problems, such as taking a drug to lose weight. But will they get in touch with how those extra pounds accumulated in the first place? I'm going to take a quick assumption and say no.

Wouldn't it be better to think about Obesity as a constellation of symptoms rather that a disease itself? I was re-reading Robert Lustig's, Metabolical. He references a significant population (~15-20%) who meet the definition of obese, but do not test positive for metabolic dysfunction. We need a Warp Speed to develop a anti-corruption treatments for our culture.

This. Obesity Syndrome

While obesity may present with medical symptoms, it doesn't usually start that way.

Anti-corruption. Yes. Take a look at marketing that is oh, so sneaky. Presenting sugar, sugar, and more sugar, under a variety of labels, as healthy.

Start with crap baby formulas and baby food that set a child up for a lifetime of inflammation that can look a lot like...obesity.

But marketing rules.
