Without a constant visual reminder of the pandemic, people would have forgotten to be afraid. I believe it was always intentional, a form of control. People will do anything out of fear.
Our family never wore them. We defied mandates, went in without them and just waited to be kicked out.
Was it because I was anti-science? No.
I read at least 10 research articles on masking in hospital environments and learned they were not effective. If they aren’t effective in a “sterile” type environment, why would Karen—who adjusts the cloth mask 20 times an hour, wears it for hours a day, and creates a moist environment for bacteria—be protected by cloth?
I didn’t buy it. And I knew, two years ago, once people accepted masking, it would never end. Once they “felt” protected, they would always do it. I didn’t want my five children living in a world of delusions. I am for science, always have been, and nothing the government was suggesting was science.
Close the parks? Where UV light is effective at disinfecting? Fear? Immune suppressor. Scare people to avoid outside and daylight? Vitamin D?
I saw through the garbage from day one. My girls, ages 9-16 at the time, studied virology online from a well-known professor Columbia. They learned “positivity does not indicate infectivity.”
Let’s hope enough parents are teaching their children the truth, or the next generation will flat out accept totalitarianism because of their propensity to fear and not question.
I'm so thankful for this article series b/c it's so important that the truth about ridiculous, inhumane, dehumanizing mask wearing gets out - before Bonnie Henry gets out her big stick and forces British Columbians to mask up again. From the moment masks started, I had this deeper instinct which led me to see them like the burka - but covering/controlling all of society. My condo neighbours will not look at excellent videos clearly showing how unscientific mask wearing is. If it isn't on CBC News, to them, it's MISINFORMATION - and they will not even open the "dangerous" link I've sent them. Thanks for this, and I look forward to the rest of the "meal"!

"enraging" Strongly agree. I woke last week with a phrase from a poem in my mind "throttled rage". I shop sans mask, but still, it's so depressing and dystopian the effect masking has had on socializing - even the small chat in a grocery line up. And when you know the truth about masking and all the lies surrounding the jabs/virus - it's crazy-making.
My husband and I always wonder why when things are getting better we still feel so dreadful. It is because all the lies that were being spread over the past two years have been crazy making as you say. Not only that, but families have been torn apart by disagreeing about what is true and what's a lie. We can't even talk to our grown up kids anymore, who rushed out to get the shots for themselves and the grandchildren.
As you point out, masks are a symptom of a problem in our public health system, and a crude attempt to reset or reimagine science, as Trudeau might put it. But science is bigger than our elites, because it is the antithesis of "proof" by authority. Some will claim they are telling "noble lies" about masks, because the proles are too stupid to understand the elites. That is just laziness, at best. By the way, in 2020, Fauci did say he was telling a noble lie to save masks for the front line workers. It doesn't surprise me that the science podcast that you respected previously went full mask propaganda. Billions were spent on getting everyone in lockstep on this, as with many other covid policies. It was actually interesting to see how many public intellectuals remained true to science throughout the pandemic.

I had seen that clip before. I think Fauci had defended his about-face (pun there) on masking by claiming that "The Science" had changed with new studies that came out early in the COVID pandemic. More on those in my upcoming posts.
Many journals and science orgs have been "captured" by the ideological left. Two anti-HCQ articles got published in major journals (including Lancet) without any proper vetting. Turns out they were very, very fake. And "coincidentally" came out just after Trump had spoken positively about HCQ, and in the run-up to the 2020 election.

The science speaks for itself, unfortunately politics does the same but uses the big stick(EMOs and mandated)as the enforcer!
Why is it that an unvaccinated person still cannot assist a frail relative to the hospital? Why hasn’t the NSHA, who is run by scientific medical leaders, not removed this vaccine mandate? Families are unnecessarily suffering and divided over the care of ailing loved ones.
