From selling drugs to selling new government policies, one thing is for sure. There are a lot of highly paid PR people putting out a lot of press releases. And with the demise of traditional media, how many “journalists” can actually take the time to vet them all? If you’re going to make your story deadline, much easier to use what’s been given to you verbatim, rather than do the hard work of fact-checking, interviewing, and crafting your own take on the matter.

I felt like I was watching The Borg when medical officers of health, media, and government officials used identical wording to pound at the same talking points throughout the age of COVID: “A pandemic of the unvaccinated”. “Safe and effective”. “Masks save lives”. “Dangerous misinformation”.

When you fund the media as does the Canadian government, it’s not surprising that they fall into line to sing your praises—quid pro quo. Either overtly or implicitly, the threat of being defunded undoubtedly reduces journalistic freedom and integrity.

This video is real, and made me literally feel sick and chilled. It was made in 2018 by people who felt that Trump was trying to undermine trust in the media. Like or hate Trump, I think there is every reason to be skeptical of the mainstream media narrative, especially now. Trump, unlike Biden, did not have a sycophantic media who worked to paint him in the best possible light at all times.
